Two Major Hot Water Supply Issues That Require Emergency Repair Service

No matter how well you take care of your water heater, problems are bound to arise at some point. Your hot water is valuable to you and your family, and that's why you should take any issues that disrupt your normal hot water supply very seriously.

Take a look at some of the common hot water supply issues that require your immediate attention.

Insufficient Hot Water

Not having enough hot water is a real bummer, and a few different issues can cause this situation. Your water heater's thermostat is the usual culprit. The temperature setting on the device may be too low and needs to be turned up. However, caution must be taken not to turn up the water temperature too high to scald.

If your water heater produces too little hot water and its thermostat isn't the problem, you may need a hot water changeover. As you connect more water-using appliances to your hot water supply, your existing water heater won't keep pace with the increase in hot water demand in your home. Replacing your water heater will involve spending a significant amount of money, but it's worth the investment.

Leaks can also reduce the amount of hot water coming out of your faucets and appliances. You should call in a hot water plumber at the earliest sign of a water leak. Ignoring even the smallest leaks can have a significant impact on your hot water supply.

No Hot Water at All

More vexing than having too little hot water is running out of hot water completely.

If you have an electric water heater, it is most likely you have faulty heating elements. Typically located at the bottom and top of the tank, these components can become worn out, leaving you with no heating source for your cold water. If your hot water system runs on gas, check whether the pilot light is on. If it's blown out, you may have a faulty pilot control valve or thermocouple.

If your water heater's pilot light or heating elements are working just fine and you're still not getting any hot water, you may be facing a bigger problem.

Need a plumber for your hot water repairs? There are many residential hot water plumbers out there for you to choose from. However, not just any plumber you come across will do. Make sure you choose one that's certified and has experience working on the type and brand of hot water system you have.

About Me

Installing a New Hot Water System in Your Home Hello! My name is Carl. I live in the city of Sydney, Australia. I recently moved into an older property which has many period features. Unfortunately, it also had a period hot water system. This hot water system was so old, it barely functioned at all. I soon got tired of taking cold showers in the morning so I decided to call in a plumber. He did a great job of installing a modern hot water system which now means I can enjoy a steaming hot shower every morning. I'm that impressed with his work, I decided to learn more about plumbing and start a blog.
